The Importance of Reading

Since reading became my thing, I've let other people know what's so special about reading. Coincidentally, I had to write a persuasive essay my first pick was The Importance of Reading. I really wanted to convince my classmates with this essay. It inspired many to begin reading! I'm posting some of the most important parts in my essay, to serve as inspiration for new readers. =)

The Importance of Reading

In today's world only 1/4 the population are avid readers. It is notable that before televisions and computers the primary leisure activity was reading. The only tragedy is that with time, people have lost their passion for reading. Little do they know, reading has abundant benefits that we can all take advantage of.

"Books may well be the only true magic."
— Alice Hoffman

Why read you may ask?

Everyday, we receive information via television, radio, and multimedia experiences, yet none of these avenues have the ability to educate as the fundamental skill of reading. Reading helps in mental development, and is even known to stimulate the muscles of the eyes. Reading is an activity that involves greater levels of concentration and adds to the conversational skills of the reader. It is an indulgence that enhances the knowledge acquired, consistently. The habit of reading also helps readers to learn new words and phrases hat they come across in everyday conversations. The habit can become a healthy addiction adds to the information available on various topics. It is observed that children and teenagers who love to reading have higher IQ's.

Reading enables a person in making informed decisions. It's food for the soul, for it nourishes that human intellect things deeper, analyzing things, and providing guidance to people, to instances they may have not been exposed to in real life. Reading is fun and a great way to relieve stress in your life, and just unwind and stimulate your imagination.

In conclusion, I recommend that enjoy reading more often. There are excellent reasons for doing it. It is the perfect way to expand your knowledge and use you imagination. I know that we have evolved with technology, but we must not forget books. Try to choose good books at the beginning, and then I ensure you that you will never stop reading, because the ability to read limits our imagination by leaving us unexposed to a vast array of knowledge, and the ability to read limits our possible careers.

"Books are the perfect entertainment: no commercials, no batteries, hours of enjoyment for each dollar spent. What I wonder is why everybody doesn't carry a book around for those inevitable dead spots in life."
— Stephen King

Very Interesting Post. I find it hard my self to persuade people to read. Everybody has the mentality that it's boring. It's cool that you're trying!

Aww amazing post! I was thinking about this topic the other day. It's crazy how people can go without ever reading. I really don't know what I would do without books :D

Great post which I fully agree with. I pretty much read all the time and when I don't, I feel like something is missing.

I feel as an avid reader myself. My son will have a better chance about being a reader. After all you have a chance to mold your children into something great
